This whole deal with the economy, and the bailout, is really getting to me. Am I crazy or are we giving the bail out money to the wrong people.
Here are some rants I have been feeling lately......
1. WHY are we giving billions of dollars to companies whose executives will only use it (STILL) to only benefit themselves. Already, it is obivious that they will not use the money to benefit the economy, nor their consumers, nor their employees. And still we give them more.
2. Why is it okay to give "top executives" high dollar bonuses, and raises, using the bail out money, in order to retain them, when it was the supposed "top executives" who helped create this problem.
3. On the Today Show today, Matt Lauer was expressing the concern that a $500,000 salary cap would cost some companies their top executives..............HEY MATT..........if every company had the cap where would they go.........I've got an idea where they can go, but the pay isn't too good. We need to weed out some of these so called top execs anyway.
4. Instead of giving business's the billions in bailout money, why would it not be a better idea to distribute it among the people of this country. What would happen if it was distributed evenly among each tax paying person in the U.S. I believe it would be enough for people to actually go out and buy things, which is what the stimlus is all about, isn't it? I mean forgive me, but a 300 dollar check is not going to stimulate me to do any spending. But perhaps, my share of biliions would stimulate me to, maybe buy a new car..................or something. Would that not be better for the automakers, than giving it directly to them so they can give some top executives millions. They get billions, so they can give themselves millions, while we drool over getting hundreds...............hundreds that will not help one bit.
5. I totally resent bailing out the banking industry when I know the next time I am late on a credit card payment, or need overdraft protection (if I have it) they are going to stick it to me. Charge me an outrageous penalty amount, and ruin my credit. They want to go up on the minimum payment, and interest rate.....and now that they have the bailout money they can stick around long enough to do just that. I would bet that it is already in the works.
6. This IS what comes about when you bleed America dry.................and ALL companies want to do that.............particularly the oil companies.........and some local and state governments are also included. I mean, am I crazy ...........because somebody needs to explain to me why prices keep going up, when the economy is already in the tank, and unemployment is at its highest point (by the way, I am unemployed). How do companies honestly expect people to continue to pay higher and higher prices when the money IS NOT there. Logic to me would say if you keep the prices low people could and would still continue to buy.............but of course then the "top executives" couldnt take there two week bonus trip, all expenses paid to wherever the hell they want. And they could not get there million dollar raises, and bonuses..........so they answer:::: raise prices and layoff a few thousand employees...........that way we can pay for it.
7. GREED.....................greed of American businesses...........and their executives, greed of their investors (or at least in the name of their investors) have cost us dearly.
8. What we need is what we try to teach our kids, and that is that for every wrong there is a consequence. We need to make sure that these people or are defrauding the government, and breaking laws will face punishment. But the key is we need to make sure the DO face punishment. And I don't mean a slap on the wrist; if they break the law they need to go to prison..............not some damn white collar country club prison but to prison...............state or federal prison........and if any person has been physically harmed but their callous act, then they need to be punished to the fullest extent allowed. NO plea bargaining to lesser charges. NO deals. NO bailouts.
9.Now that we helped the banking industry, it is time for them to help us................go down on your interest rates for credit cards........................go down on your minimum payments........at least temporarily......until we can begin to make payments AND feed ourselves.......................
10. to the US GOVERNMENT................how about letting us go into our 401k's without killing us with the high penalty rates..................I mean, think about it...............I do know it is suppose to be there for our future.............but by the looks of things that could be now, and we have to survive to get there or it won't do anyone any good..................unless that is part of the plan, because I am sure the inheritance, and death tax on that would be high also.
11. Mr. President, HELP us.............................quit helping the people that are going to continue to screw us.....................................................
you are helping to keep companies alive, but they will not help keep the people alive.........
